Our Story

While raising her daughter, and living in New York, Einas Ibrahim longed for a place where her child could learn Arabic - her family’s mother tongue – while enjoying quality programs that would engage her daughter. Unfortunately, there were no programs that were of the high caliber she expected and would also be fun for her daughter to attend. Thus, Einas began to dream of a place where children from all backgrounds could have fun learning Arabic together, and the seed of Zizina began to grow.

Zizina is now a modern, vibrant organization where Arabic is taught in a playful and engaging way that students actually enjoy! Zizina is a type of butterfly as well as our school name. We feel that butterflies represent the language journey beautifully. Our students begin speaking Arabic at the caterpillar level, and progress with guidance and support into cocoons and then butterflies. Every time a student becomes strong enough in Arabic to converse independently we feel like we’re watching them begin their first flight – it’s very exciting!
